_225_350_Book.668.coverHouse of Mercy by Erin Healy tells the story of Beth Borzoi, an aspiring veterinarian, and the trials and tribulations that she faces because of one mistake.  In the attempt to help a friend with vet bills for his horse, Beth steals a valuable saddle from the tack room at the Blazing B ranch, a ranch that her family has owned for generations and uses to help people who are down on their luck.  After giving the saddle to her friend, she’s given the opportunity to ride a valuable horse, but one freak accident leaves Beth minorly injured and the horse dead.

As a result of that accident, the horse owner places a hefty lawsuit on Beth and the ranch, leaving the family with few options. Beth decides to forego going to vet school, and instead gets a job in town before finding out about a grandfather she had never met.  Leaving her town and family, she goes to search for him to see if he can help.

Overall, this book is a gripping novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  You will find yourself emotionally involved with the characters and sympathizing with them as well.  As with Erin Healy’s other novels, this novel shines with imagery and the descriptions of the locations make it easy to immerse yourself in the novel.  I would recommend this to all of my friends.
